You may expect chanting to fill you up — that prema will accumulate until you finally feel complete. It works the other way: the closer you come to the Name, the sharper you feel what you lack. Gurudev explains this through Prabodhananda Sarasvati's words: "I have been cheated, I have been cheated" — even though Chaitanya Mahaprabhu inundated the whole universe with prema-rasa, not one drop touched him. This is not the voice of failure but of humility: the higher the prema, the deeper you see your own emptiness before it. Picture a man chest-deep in a river of nectar, crying out that he is dying of thirst — and it is true, not an exaggeration. Sit the same way: don't wait for the round to fill you.
