""Eho haya" — this is okay. Every other time he said "eho bāhya", this is external; now he said this is okay. … This can be accepted as a sādhya. But it does not give a clear picture; it more describes the process how to get the sādhya."
Rāmānanda speaks the verse of bhakti free from dry knowledge: give up the strain to grasp with the mind, bow down, and live by hearing about the Lord from the mouths of devotees. And for the first time in the whole conversation — not "eho bāhya" but "eho haya": yes, this is right, this can now be called the goal. For the first time the ladder trembles upward. Yet Mahāprabhu at once refines it: this still describes the process — the sādhana of pure bhakti, not the sādhya, not the taste of the fruit. Accepted — and still: "say more." So rungs rise even above the purest practice.
Take the practice to heart — but remember: above it is the fruit itself.
