Gurudeva explains the mystery of the sakhīs by a simple rule of the garden. Water poured on the root satisfies every branch and leaf; food placed in the stomach enlivens every sense. So it is here: the nectar of Kṛṣṇa's embrace is poured on the root, and the root of all the sakhīs is Rādhikā. From there the bliss spreads through every leaf of the creeper. This is why the sakhīs seek no share of their own: their share flows through her and arrives fuller than it would directly. A creeper is beautified by its fresh buds and flowers, and Rādhikā is beautiful surrounded by her sakhīs.
