"By trying to chant continuously — at first it is nāma-aparādha; gradually that will fade and nāma-ābhāsa will come, some light will come. And then the sun of the Holy Name will rise in the sky of the heart."
Don't expect the Name to shine at full strength from the first day. It rises like the sun over a dark sky. First comes nāma-aparādha, the deep night of offenses, when there's almost no light. Then the darkness gradually thins, and nāma-ābhāsa arrives — the first rays, a glimmer, a dawn. And only then does the sun of the Holy Name, śuddha-nāma, rise in the sky of the heart in full purity. Three levels — the same sun at different heights.
Wherever your sky is right now is no reason for despair. Keep turning toward the east.
