"To enter this līlā of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa the sādhana is not a list of rules, it is not vaidhī-bhakti. Who has the power and control in this līlā? The sakhīs. Without taking shelter of these sakhīs there is no way to enter into this kuñja-līlā — they are the way."
Rules can be kept alone. Rising early, the rounds, restraint — all of it is done by one's own strength, and so it is tempting to think the summit is reached the same way: add discipline, add effort. But in the inner groves of Vraja it is the sakhīs who decide: whom to admit, whom to give service, whose heart to prepare. No one enters there on merit; one is brought in. So sādhana changes form — from accumulating to asking, from self-reliance to following the one who is already inside.
Ask yourself: am I walking on my own, or behind someone?
