Mahāprabhu says "speak further," and Rāmānanda names parental love. To confirm it he gives a verse that asks a question rather than answers it: what did they earn? The question is left open on purpose. Vātsalya is not passed off as a merit: the very thought that the Unlimited can be fed does not fit into any reckoning, and only amazement is left. Yaśodā, meanwhile, knows nothing of her fortune — she is simply feeding her son. A stack of straw mats worn smooth, and beside it a full clay pot of milk still giving off steam.
