You sit down for your rounds and quietly assume that you are the one making the syllables: the tongue moves, the lips work, the sound comes out of you. Gurudev stops that assumption — this sound is śabda-brahma, God himself in his incarnation of sound, and material senses cannot produce it. So on your rounds you are not manufacturing the Name; you are receiving a Person who has agreed to come to you audibly. You chant at dawn, and out of the sound itself Krishna stands before you with his flute — not an image your mind invented, but the very One who is that sound. He is already there in the first syllable, before you have felt anything at all.
